Karen Bassichis Saland, MD, voted one the Best Doctors in Dallas for ophthalmology for the 16th consecutive year, continues her dedication to treating patients at her well-respected and cutting-edge comprehensive ophthalmology practice, Saland Vision. She routinely cares for patients with a wide variety of eye conditions including glaucoma, dry eyes, diabetes, and cataracts. She ensures the best possible visual outcome for each patient by incorporating the latest corneal mapping and biometry techniques.
Dr. Saland was born and raised in College Station, TX. She attended Harvard University for her undergraduate education and received her M.D. degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. After completing her internship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Saland completed her ophthalmology residency at Maryland General Hospital/Jonas Friedenwald Eye Institute.
Dr. Saland’s passion and ability to maintain and protect vision is reflected in patient satisfaction and confidence. She is a clinical associate professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and has been recognized for more than 15 years of dedicated service. Dr. Saland additionally serves on the internal medicine teaching faculty at Texas Health Dallas. In her free time, Dr. Saland loves to play tennis, travel, and spend time with family.
Comprehensive Ophthalmologist & Glaucoma Specialist
Sara Schultis, MD, specializes in comprehensive eye exams, cataract surgery, and glaucoma management. In addition to performing cataract surgery with the most advanced intraocular lens technology, she is fellowship-trained in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma. She is able to individualize treatment plans with a variety of complex glaucoma surgeries, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS), and glaucoma lasers.
A native Texan, Dr. Schultis was raised in San Antonio, Texas. She attended Vanderbilt University for her undergraduate education and graduated magna cum laude with a double major in Neuroscience and Child Development. She received her M.D. degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 2018, where she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
After completing her internship at JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Schultis completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Schultis was then selected to complete a fellowship in glaucoma at the world-renowned University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society.
Dr. Schultis is excited to serve patients in the Dallas area and enjoys educating patients about their ocular health and different treatment options. In her free time, Dr. Schultis enjoys traveling, yoga, and spending quality time with her husband and two children.
